Chat
Send messages to everyone or privately to specific participants.
The chat feature lets you communicate via text during the meeting without interrupting the speaker. You can send messages to everyone or privately to specific participants.
Opening Chat
Click the Chat button in the bottom toolbar to open the chat panel. The panel appears on the side of the meeting screen.
Sending Messages
Public Messages
Send a message to everyone in the meeting:
Open the chat panel
Make sure "Everyone" is selected as the recipient
Type your message in the input field
Press Enter or click Send
All participants will see your message in the chat panel.
Private Messages
Send a message to a specific participant:
Open the chat panel
Click the recipient selector (shows "Everyone" by default)
Select a specific participant
Type and send your message
Only you and the recipient will see the private message.
Private messages are indicated with a "Private" or "Direct" label so you know they're not visible to everyone.
Sharing Files
You can share files directly in chat:
Click the attachment icon (📎) next to the message input
Select one or more files from your device
Wait for the upload to complete (progress shown)
The file appears in chat for recipients to download

File size limit: 25 MB per file
Recipients click on the file attachment to download or view it in a new tab.
Chat Panel Features
Message Display
- Messages appear chronologically
- Sender name and timestamp shown
- Your messages are visually distinct from others'
- Private messages are marked as such
- File attachments display with an icon and filename
Scrolling and History
- Scroll up to see earlier messages
- New messages appear at the bottom
- Unread indicator shows when new messages arrive while scrolled up
Chat Etiquette
Keep it relevant: Use chat for meeting-related communication — questions, links, clarifications.
Don't overload: Too many chat messages can be distracting. Be concise.
Use private messages appropriately: Side conversations that don't need everyone's attention.
Check before sharing: Be mindful of what you share — chat logs may be saved.
Chat Notifications
When you receive a new message:
- Unread count badge appears on the chat button
- Notification sound (if enabled)
- Message preview (depends on settings)
Chat Availability
Chat availability depends on meeting settings:

The Host controls chat settings when scheduling the meeting or in room settings. Chat can be enabled/disabled as a module.
Chat After the Meeting
For Hosts
- Chat history can be accessed after the meeting ends
- Export chat logs from recording details
- Review what was discussed
For Participants
- Chat typically ends when the meeting ends
- You cannot send new messages after the meeting
- Ask the host for chat logs if needed
Chat logs and recordings
If the meeting is recorded, chat may be included in the recording or available as a separate export. This depends on meeting and recording settings.
Troubleshooting
Can't see chat panel
- Check if chat is enabled for this meeting
- Try clicking the Chat button again
- Refresh the page if the panel doesn't respond
Messages not sending
- Check your internet connection
- Try sending a shorter message
- Refresh the page if persistent
Not receiving messages
- Ensure the chat panel is open
- Check if you're viewing the correct chat (Everyone vs Private)
- Notifications may be muted
