Screen Share Annotations

Draw over the screen you are sharing with local annotation tools.

Screen-share annotation lets the local sharer draw over their own live shared screen. Other meeting participants see the annotated share, but they do not receive remote control of the sharer's device.

Start Annotating

  1. Start sharing a supported screen source.
  2. Select Annotate from the sharing controls.
  3. Choose a drawing tool and begin marking the shared content.

Only the person currently sharing from that device receives the annotation tools.

Available Tools

The toolbar can include:

  • Pen, disappearing pen, and highlighter
  • Lines, arrows, rectangles, circles, and checkmarks
  • Stamps such as a cross, star, heart, or question mark
  • Pointer and eraser
  • Drawing color and line size
  • Undo, redo, and clear drawings

You can move the toolbar and close it without ending the screen share.

Changing the Shared Source

Drawings can be cleared when you change the screen, window, or tab being shared. If annotation cannot continue, screen sharing may remain active without drawings.

Browser and Device Support

Annotation requires a supported desktop browser and is hidden on small screens. It may stop to keep screen sharing smooth if the browser or device cannot process the annotated share reliably.

Screen-sharing permission is still required. Annotation never grants keyboard, mouse, file, or operating-system control to another participant.
